4.2% 0.5 mEq/ml (10 ml prefilled syringe)
INDICATIONS
- Treatment of severe metabolic acidosis unresponsive to ventilation and return of adequate perfusion
- Hyperkalemia
- Sodium channel blocker intoxication, tricyclic antidepressants
PRECAUTIONS
- Routine use NOT RECOMMENDED in cardiac arrest
- Maintain adequate alveolar ventilation
- Do not mix with other medications
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
- Severe metabolic acidemia or hyperkalemia: IV/IO 1 mEq/kg slow bolus (4.2% concentration recommended for patients less than 1 month old)
