Stimulates β1 and alpha receptors

Inotropic/chronotropic/potent vasoconstrictor

INDICATIONS

• May be beneficial to treat (hypotension) shock associated with inadequate vascular resistance and lack of response to fluid resuscitation

PRECAUTIONS

• Unwanted hypertension
• Organ ischemia and cardiac arrhythmias
• Tissue necrosis if extravasation occurs (treat with phentolamine)

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

• IV ADMINISTRATION ONLY
• 0.05–0.1 mcg/kg/minute
• Titrate to desired response
