First-line treatment for patients with supraventricular tachycardia.

Dosage & Administration

ADMINISTRATION IV (unlikely to be effective when given I/O).

• First dose: 0.1 mg/kg (max 6 mg) rapid IV push, immediately followed by fluid bolus
• Repeat dose: 0.2 mg/kg rapid IV push, immediately followed by fluid bolus
• Maximum dose: 12 mg
• Directly observe ECG monitor to observe response

PRECAUTIONS

• Ultra-short duration of effect (less than 10 seconds)
• May require larger doses in patients receiving caffeine or theophylline drugs
