Surgical Procedures May Soon Be Monitored by Black Box Recorders
Your outpatient surgical center may soon be outfitted with a black box recorder according to Kendal Gapinski of Outpatient Magazine. She reports about upcoming change in her article “Black Box Recorder On Its Way.”
These recorders are intended to make recording of surgical procedures, which will then be analyzed to detect possible mistakes and alert the surgeon early enough to properly intervene and remedy the problem.
While this new procedure may be instrumental in saving lives, some medical professionals are concerned about how the recordings might be used in medical malpractice suits and whether or not having the surgery recorded would put undue stress on the attending surgeon.
