One of the top excuses people make for not incorporating exercise into their daily routines is that they do not have enough time to spare for it. However, a new study being conducted by a team at Abertay University in Dundee, Scotland may make that excuse obsolete and change the way people think about exercise.
James Gallagher, the Health editor for the BBC News website, reports about this study in his article entitled “Six seconds of exercise ‘can transform health’.” In this article, Gallagher explains how a group of senior citizens, asked to exercise in intense 6-second spurts, showed a gradual but marked improvement in blood-pressure and overall heart health. These findings were reported in the Journal of American Geriatrics Society.
The benefits of six seconds of intense exercise are not limited to seniors. Inactive adults at any age can realize increased heart health by making an effort to get their heart-rates up as a matter of course throughout the day. You can learn more about this and other related topics at BBC News.
