Person of Interest: Captain Jason Farley

June is National Safety Month, and we at AMRI honor all of the first responders who work so hard to ensure the safety of those in their communities. The severe flooding suffered by many in Texas and Oklahoma last month showcased the life-saving heroics of thousands of first-responders and safety personnel who worked day and night to rescue those who were trapped and endangered by flood waters.

One of these heroes was Captain Jason Farley of Claremore, Oklahoma. The 44-year old firefighter died tragically on May 23, 2015 when he was swept into a storm drain and drowned while working to rescue residents trapped in a Claremont duplex.

Captain Farley, a 19-year veteran of the Claremont Fire Department, is described as having been “larger than life, passionate and committed to serving others.” He was the department’s first staff-member to die in the line-of-duty since the mid-1980’s. He leaves behind a wife and daughter as well as other family members.

Thousands of people attended his memorial service, including hundreds of first-responders from neighboring states. You can learn more about this fallen hero here.

First-responders risk their lives on a daily basis and we at AMRI honor each and every one of them for the work they do to ensure our safety.
