Let FUSE Train Your Staff on Electrosurgery Safety

FUSE (Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy) is a new training program specifically designed to educate surgeons and surgical staff on the proper use of electrosurgery devices, reports Kendal Gapinski of Outpatient Surgery Magazine.  Gapinski states that this program is particularly important given that there is currently no other formal training program available.

The chief benefit of the FUSE program is that it can help to prevent surgical fires, a problem that occurs hundreds of times each year in the U.S.  According to Daniel B. Jones, MD and chair of the FUSE Task Force, “approximately two-thirds of these OR fires involve electrosurgical equipment.”

Learn more about the FUSE program, which offers a free interactive web-based training program , by reading Gapinski’s article, Train Surgeons and Staff on Electrosurgery Safety with FUSE.
