Discarded Cardiac-Surgery Fat May Contain Beneficial Stem-Cells

Honor Whiteman, a writer for Medical News Today, recently published a very interesting article entitled Heart function improved in rats ‘by injecting discarded surgery fat’ which presents some interesting breakthroughs.

According to Whiteman, a team of Canadian researchers, headed by Dr. Ganghong Tian, theorizes that stem-cells from cardiac fat, when injected back into patients’ hearts, can improve overall heart function. They have already shown this to be true when tested on rats. They are slated to present their findings in support of their theory at the Frontiers in Cardiovascular Biology meeting in Barcelona later this year.
