Diabetes Is Still on the Rise, but It Is Showing Signs of Slowing

Diabetes affects more than 8 percent of adults in the United States, and new cases of this disease are diagnosed every year in growing numbers. Though new diagnoses are on the rise, however, there is some good news reported by the CDC. For the first time, the rate of new cases of this disease has been seen to slow down in recent years.

This is reported by Kim Painter in a USA Today article entitled CDC says diabetes rates my show first signs of slowing.  Painter points out that diabetes is currently the seventh leading cause of death in this country and it increases people’s risk of heart attack, blindness and the need for limb amputation.

A decrease in new cases is a good thing, but we still have a long way to go in terms of prevention and education about this deadly disease. Check out thearticle to learn more.
