AMRI’S Fan of the Month for August

AMRI is pleased to announce its fan of the month for August. Last month, we featured Sharon L Barela.  Dr. Alfredo Bongo, Jr. is our fourth named Fan of the Month based on his interactions on our Facebook page. What inspired you to become a doctor?

When I was a child, I always dreamed of one day becoming a doctor since my father was a doctor of medicine. He served as my great inspiration.

What is your favorite thing about being a doctor?

My favorite thing about being a doctor is that I get to deal with people. In this job, you deal with all kinds of people, including your patients, their families and your colleagues at the hospital and you have the opportunity to touch specially their lives.

What is the most amazing thing you have ever done?

As a pediatric pulmonologist, the most amazing thing you do is treat patients who come to you for various complaints of breathing and know you are able to help them live normal lives. It is very rewarding.

How has becoming a doctor affected your life?

Becoming doctor carries a big responsibility to be of help to my fellow man—especially in the Philippines, being that it is a developing country.

If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go and why?

Traveling to the US is my top priority so that I can become updated with recent developments in the field of respiratory medicine, including many new treatment modalities in respiratory medicine and critical care. I believe that being a doctor is not only a career but a passion to be to of service and help to my fellow Filipinos.
