In this article, the BBC’s health editor, Michelle Roberts, reports on a study being conducted by scientists in the UK to test the effectiveness of a newly developed tomato pill as a preventive therapy. These pills are being created by a company called CamNutra and the key ingredient in them is lycopene, the natural antioxidant that makes tomatoes red.
Though the initial trial was small, including only 36 test subject, the results are promising. More testing will need to be completed before the FDA will approve this medication for heart disease prevention, but things are looking promising. This is definitely a story worth following.
