ACLS or PALS Recertification
ACLS/PALS Provider Recertification Details
If you have been ACLS and/or PALS certified, you are eligible to take our online recertification program.
Online recertification provides the opportunity to study and review at your own pace and, when you are ready, take the examination in the comfort of your own home or office. Upon successful completion, you will receive your ACLS or PALS card, as well as a continuing professional education certificate for up to 10 hours of credit.
Since many health care professionals maintain their proficiency and knowledge after taking the provider course, a self-paced review followed by re-examination provides the most expedient and cost-effective method to recertify.
Our recertification program comes with online materials, such as a 2010 guidelines review course, that we recommend you review as part of your preparation. It contains some case studies relevant to the new guidelines, as well as some practice questions. Once you are comfortable with the new material, you can take the examination.
The certification examination is based on the most recent publications of the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the National Board of Emergency Care Certifications (NBECC). The exam includes of 75 multiple-choice questions (50 questions for PALS), covering the core concepts of ACLS or PALS.
Successful completion requires a minimum score of 84% on the written examination, and completion of the online clinical skills inventory questionnaire.
It is important to note that: 15 of the 75 questions (10 for PALS) are used for internal study/evaluation purposes and are not used to determine passing score. In the event you do not pass the exam, you can request input from a member of our staff who will provide needed assistance with remediation. When you feel ready, the exam can be repeated at no additional charge.
Once you have registered for a certification exam, the online exam will be available to you for 90 days.
You are allotted 150 minutes to take the exam and once you begin the exam, you must complete it within that time frame.
If you have any specific questions about the exam itself, please email us at administration@amrieducation.org.
