Pioneering An Innovative Curriculum For 30 Years
“...plastic dummies are for kids...”
"...plastic dummies are for kids. You can't imagine how it feels as an anesthesia professional to have a paramedic ‘critique’ your ‘skill’ at threading an ETT into a blob of plastic...AMRI’s online program restored my faith in the system.”
– Tim K. from MA

First in the Nation: A Cut Above the Competition
In 1983, a diverse group of health care specialists and educators responded to the need for post-graduate medical education and founded the American Medical Resource Institute ™ (AMRI). AMRI was chartered and authorized to conduct business by the State of Illinois. For nearly three decades, we have provided innovative courses in post-graduate health care education. AMRI’s faculty represents well-known academics and clinicians from coast to coast. AMRI created the first, post-graduate continuing education module for hospitals and then connected with other professionals to implement the programs that saved hospitals money and provided the necessary education to their staffs.
By 2000, online programs had spread to major universities and law schools as well as certification processes such as state licensing examinations. The AMRI Board of Directors determined that if one could receive a recognized, accredited college degree via online services, ACLS and PALS clients would greatly benefit from such a format.
In 2002, AMRI was again the first – this time recognizing the need for online post-graduate educational opportunities and thus launched its top-notch ACLS and PALS certification online. Since that time, more than 200,000 health care professionals from all 50 states and over 30 foreign countries have successfully completed in the program.
“...It is a lifesaver for me...”
"As the only physician in a very remote farming community, the ability to leave my practice and go to take an ACLS course is quite limited. aclsonline.us makes it possible for me to study and certify, without leaving my patients. It is a lifesaver for me.”
– Mark L. from IL
AMRI’s multi-disciplinary approach to education appeals to serious practitioners looking for the opportunity to utilize case-based models designed to test their clinical skills and provide them with tools to use in real-time after certification. Recognizing the need, our founders were the first to develop the ACLS certification utilizing case-based educational techniques.
“AMRI remains committed to providing the highest-quality post-graduate education to our clients,” says AMRI President, Leslie Parker Olesen. “Using all the resources available to us, both technological and medical, we are continually upgrading and improving our programs and services while ensuring affordability and convenience.”
“...AMRI’s online program lets knowledge be demonstrated...”
"My last PALS course was run by a nurse who said she never took care of kids. It really didn't matter because the participants just walked around a room and played with plastic manikins and took a written test together. I could not understand why my residency program required me to waste the time. AMRI’s online program lets knowledge be demonstrated and clinical activities documented. This makes sense.”
– Sue G. from CA

“...comprehensive rather sophisticated course....”
“...I found this to be a comprehensive rather sophisticated course, particularly when it involved pathophysiology, pharmacology and the management of cardiovascular and pulmonary life support scenarios. Although I am an associate clinical professor of medicine, I felt that I learned a great deal.”
– Mark C. from NY
